At the beginning of this year, I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to the Philippines.
First Days
After I arrived at my lola's place in Cavite, i was able to catch my uncle teaching at the elementary school that he, my dad and their siblings attended. He was a guest teacher, giving kids insight on how to do mental math quickly, even with big numbers. Basically, Innovative math hacks that he call's Math-inic:
Quick Sample:
When you multiply any 2 digit number by 11, you separate the two numbers and place the sum in the middle.
Formula:
AB x 11 = A(A+B)Y
Try 54 x 11.
5 (5+4) 4 = 594
54 x 11 = 594
but if the sum is over 10, you just carry a 1 to the first digit.
76 x 11 = 831.
